MDWFP Application for Cost-Share

The following is an application for cost-share assistance for habitat management projects from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. In this instance, assistance will come in the form of reimbursement following the completion of approved habitat management projects completed by a landowner or contractor.

You may provide relevant comments related to your proposed project. However, an MDWFP representative will contact you to discuss your application to clarify any details and set up a visit to the site as needed.

Available Assistance Types:

1. Prescribed Burning - Pine plantations that have not been thinned, recent clearcuts in need of site preparation for planting, pastures, crop stubble, and piles or land clearing operations are not eligible.
2. Brush Control - This practice incudes herbicide applications to control undesirable brush (e.g., sweetgum in pine forests). Projects associated with an active prescribed burning regime will receive priority.
3. Establishing Native Vegetation - This practice includes establishing fire-adapted native vegetation, specifically longleaf pine forests, shortleaf pine forests, or native prairie grasslands.
4. Controlling Invasive Plants - This practice is limited to herbicide applications to control non-native invasive plants.
5. Wetland Development - This practice includes installing or replacing water control structures for the management of ephemeral wetlands. This does not include construction or repair of recreational fishing ponds.
6. Wetland Management - This practice includes management activities to improve shallow-water wetland habitat such as herbicide applications to control problem weeds or brush management in wetlands.
